Disappointment is cruel. It steals your presence and litters your mind with fear.
It’s that sinking sensation in the pit of your stomach. The heaviness in your heart. The thing that knocks you off your feet and makes you doubt your ability to manifest what you want and make waves in the world.
As I’m nestled in front of the fire on this brisk winter day, I’m dwelling on disappointment.
It’s happened for me this week. It’s happened for my community. It’s one of those things that happens for all of us.
But as I stare into the flames, licking the cracked white ash of the wood, it becomes so clear that despite the destruction they bring, the flames are also producing heat. It’s no different than disappointment.
There are gifts in disappointment.
Think about it: What if you dodged a bullet? What if the Universe was just clearing space? What if something bigger, better, and more beautiful is on its way?
Just because something doesn’t work out, doesn’t mean it’s not working out.
Really though—that’s the truth.
Disappointment is a trade off and whatever the trade off is, it’s for your highest good.
I know it can be hard to grasp this, especially when your heart is hurting. Especially when you can’t see outside of the box your disappointment puts you in. You tape up that box so tightly that all you see are those high cardboard walls; no chance of escape.
But what if you could break out of the box? What if you could move through disappointment with grace & ease?
All it requires is this:
🤍 Be in the box. When disappointment hooks you with its claws, feel it. Let your mind go to the worst possible scenario. Simmer in the anger, fear, doubt, or sadness. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and be in the box. Tape it shut. Feel all the feels.
🤍 Crack open the lid. When the timer is up, turn to your tools. What helps you move your energy around? Do you need to exercise? Call a friend? Watch a funny movie? Listen to personal development? Commit to letting the light in.
🤍 Break down the walls. Once you’ve moved through the heaviness and into a lighter state of being, explore the possibilities. What are ALL of the reasons this might not have worked out? What lesson is the Universe inviting you to learn? Could there be a gift in this situation? What is it? Commit to seeing things beyond the cardboard walls.
Moving through disappointment with grace & ease, at its core, is about coming back to trust. Just because something doesn’t work out, doesn’t mean life’s not working out.
Let the Universe be your compass. Due north is always your highest good 🧭
With love & grace,
