Maybe it feels safer that way.
Maybe it makes more sense when you really think about it.
Maybe it’s easier because then you don’t have to show people who you really are, or even deeper yet—you don’t have to admit who you really are to yourself.
If there’s one thing I know about success, it’s that success only comes when you are 100% aligned.
So if you aren’t experiencing the level of success you’d like to experience {or even some version of it, because yes, it does take time for success to unfold}, ask yourself: Where am I out of alignment? Am I doing what I’m doing in my life or business because that’s what I’ve been told to do? What am I not giving myself permission to do?
Last Wednesday, my Coach asked me this last question. And while I couldn’t clearly answer her right away, it stuck in my mind and I turned it over and over, grappling for an answer.
When the answer finally came, I was somewhat surprised. I realized that as I’ve been trying to set stronger boundaries in my business {like having someone fill out a questionnaire before giving away a free call or spending less time in my free group}, these boundaries have been limiting who I really am, what I really value, and how I like to run my business.
There’s no denying that at my core, I’m a giver. I value depth. I’m here to show you who you are and how the way you’re interacting in your world is keeping you from creating the results you want to see in your life or business.
That means that every touch point of my business needs to reflect these values and this zone of genius or else I’m going to feel disconnected. I’m going to feel less fulfilled and I’m going to make less of an impact and an income.
Others would disagree though. They’d say: “You’re giving away too much. You need to charge for that. You shouldn’t Coach anyone before they pay for it.”
I call BULL SHIT. The sad part is though—I almost bought into it.
I don’t actually need to set stronger boundaries. I need to learn better ways to manage my energy and I need to be more intentional when it comes to giving. I can’t hold back from giving because that’s who I am, but I also can’t block myself off from receiving.
There have been many times where people have been SO blown away on a session with me that they’ve asked me how they can pay me or how they can work with me and I’ve either turned them down or avoided asking for the sale.
There’s clearly something within me that’s saying: “Hey! I’m available to give, but not to receive.” And that, therein, lies the problem.
When I’m not comfortable receiving, I’m going to attract people who have no intention of giving energy back. And that’s what makes me feel bitter. When I’m bitter, I lose myself. That’s when other people’s ideas of how to run a business take precedence in my head. That’s when I get caught up in the thought, “Yeah! I should be getting paid for what I give.” And that’s when I disconnect from doing business MY way—a way that feels super good and uniquely fulfilling to me.
So in this moment, I’m calling myself out and I’m granting myself permission to do what I love in a way that FEELS GOOD TO ME, regardless of what others may think.
I would love for you to do the same. How do YOU want to do things? What aren’t you giving yourself permission to do? How can you call in an even deeper sense of alignment so that success has no choice but to FLOW straight to you?
With love, light, & reflection,
