My Business Fails in 2023 & What’s Working in 2024

Business, Human Design

For many business owners, it’s been a tough year.

If you’ve experienced business fails from the shifting economy or the changing landscape within your industry, you are not alone.

After receiving clear intuitive guidance that it was time to pivot the foundations of my business model in 2023, I created four different paid offers throughout the year.

Of these four offers, two failed completely.

Of the other two, one was a smashing success, resulting in five lives changed, one participant becoming a private coaching client, and me having a blast while stepping into the role of teacher.

Despite these business fails, what has kept me grounded and attracting opportunities in other ways is my unyielding ability to remain certain in times of uncertainty.

I wasn’t made for giving up.

Even in the midst of my very human moments [and there have been many], the medicine lies in meeting myself where I’m at. It lies in being kind to myself and moving through my fears so that I clear space for faith and abundant creativity.

From this place, I choose to see my business fails as feedback. And that means I get to look back on this year as one big experiment.

I think this is where many of us are at. We’re caught between releasing what’s old and decaying, and birthing what’s new and evolving.

Astrologically-speaking, the sky has much to teach us.

Right now, the north node of the moon [the hungry head of the dragon] is currently transiting Aries. Pluto, the planet of death, rebirth, and transformation, is currently transiting Human Design Gate 60.

On a collective level, we’re hungry for NEWNESS and innovative, individual solutions. We’re craving services that are unique and different and will help us win [solve our problems] now, not later. We want quick results and bold transformations.

We’re also being asked to flow with the changes happening in our industries. Rather than cling to old structures and strategies that are no longer working, what creative solutions will help us transcend our limitations? What new containers will we, and our clients, thrive in?

This reflects a lot of what I’ve seen as working in my corner of the service-based business world. Not all businesses are floundering or struggling. Some are absolutely thriving and flourishing.

Here is what those thriving businesses have based on my own observations and the feedback from my experiment:

➡️ Specific expertise and knowledge that is cutting-edge, aligned with what the collective is seeking, and shared generously. Consciousness is expanding. Gone are the days of “mindset work,” hooking people in with how to make more money, and over-charging + underdelivering. Discernment, nervous system regulation, social justice work, human design, and alternative healing methods are some examples of what’s expanding. People are curious to learn more about these topics for themselves, as well as for their clients.

➡️ Short, potent offers that provide a specific result or solve a specific problem NOW. Longer, high investment containers where it takes time to unravel results and create transformation are needing longer lead times and are not favored unless someone highly trusts you. This may mean diversifying your offers and pricing if you only have the latter [which was me earlier this year].

➡️ A deliverable that fills a skills gap, especially if your branding or method sets you apart. For example, copywriters who weave in human design or website developers who build eco-friendly websites from their solar-powered homes [shoutout to Tasha Christy and Aubre Walther for being these specific examples].

➡️ A natural gift that is delivered through an experience, like art classes, sound healings, or intuitive readings.

➡️ Offers that foster community and connection. Retreats, memberships, or short group programs are some examples.

Of course, what’s going to work for each of us in changing times is much more layered and nuanced than foundations alone, however, I hope these observations are a starting point.

I hope they generate curiosity and creative brainstorming rather than hard “rights,” “wrongs,” or rules to follow.

With that being said, I’d love to hear your thoughts! What’s resonating? What’s missing? What business fails have you experienced this year and how do you plan to overcome them? Share your answers in the comments ⬇️

With love & experimentation,
-Kayla
