The Power of Choosing

Create, Explore

July was a slow month.

Time crawled and blurred together. Day after day looked the same—wake up, work out, work, watch Netflix.

The ruts of routine grew deep and I forgot the feeling of being alive.

When this happens; when I fall into a rabbit hole of living a life less than what my heart deeply desires, my emotions spin out of control.

I become a twister of confusion and exhaustion until I make something different occur.

In a particularly sullen session with my Coach, she pulled this out of me—my own internal alarm system that screams: “WAKE UP! It’s time to course correct!”

…“But Leighann, I can’t do what I want to do right now… I can’t join Wi-Fi Tribe. I have to wait until the pandemic is over.”

“Kayla—what if you CHOSE the pandemic? What would be different?”

WOAH.
Choose the pandemic?

In that moment, all future potential timelines I saw for after the pandemic fell away and I realized: We only have THIS timeline. We only have RIGHT NOW. What will I choose to create for my life RIGHT NOW?

What was it that I wanted from Wi-Fi Tribe anyways?

When I looked underneath, what I saw were needs for ADVENTURE, GROWTH, and DEEP CONNECTION with other like-minded individuals.

Could I actually create these things NOW? But how?

Two ideas struck my consciousness:

1.) I could move my Massachusetts quarantine life to somewhere I actually wanted to be.
2.) I could find a like-minded travel buddy to go with me.

And so, within 24 hours after that powerful question shook up every fiber of my being, I chose to relocate to Mexico.*

I bought a plane ticket for the following weekend.
I booked an apartment.
I found someone in my travel community to go with.

And now here I am, living the life my soul craves.

This is the power of choosing.

What will you choose?

With love & adventure,
-Kayla

*Now, by no means am I encouraging travel right now, but I’m also not discouraging it. Whether we like it or not, this virus is with us for a long time and I personally believe our approach can’t be ALL or NOTHING. We can’t completely put our lives on pause, looking to a future when everything returns to normal. We also can’t live like before, without any consideration for our health and the health of the human race. There must be considerations on both sides. There must be caution. We must wear our masks. But also: We must live.

P.S. I have a couple of spots opening up in my practice next month. Interested in one? Shoot me an email: kaylamacarthurcoaching@gmail.com 😊
