To the Ones Who Disappear

Create

We spend an hour together, diving deep into you.

You see so much for yourself and I do too. You want so much for yourself and I want it for you too. As we talk, it feels electric. Like our paths were meant to cross.

We look at what you want.
We look at what’s holding you back.
We look at what it would be like and feel like to receive support to get there.

You say you think you’re ready and I challenge you. Are you sure? Because “thinking” and “being” are two very different things.

We talk at length about how you might block support, in the same way you block what you want.

You say you need time to sit with it and I acknowledge you for honoring that. We hang up with an intention to come together again. But then, I never hear from you. Again.

Like an eclipse, you vanish from the sky. The night turns black like velvet.

I sit on my hands to give you space. Waiting. Wondering.

I hope you know that even if you want to say “no,” that’s okay. Beyond a prospect—you’re a person and what I committed to that day was to support you, even if that means support isn’t for you.

More silence passes and I lean into sadness. I feel like I’ve lost someone I really want to see.

What’s happening in your life?
Are you celebrating something big?

I’ll never know. And I have to be okay with that.

The most heartbreaking part of Coaching is similar to the most rewarding part of coaching—you can only take a stand for your Client and then witness as they learn to take a stand for themselves.

With light,
