The Power of Choosing

Create, Explore

July was a slow month.  Time crawled and blurred together. Day after day looked the same—wake up, work out, work, watch Netflix.  The ruts of routine grew deep and I forgot the feeling of being alive.  When this happens; when I fall into a rabbit hole of living a life less than what my heart deeply desires, my emotions spin out of control.  I become a twister of confusion and exhaustion until I make something different occur.  In a particularly sullen session with my Coach, she pulled this out of me—my own internal alarm system that screams: “WAKE UP! It’s time to course correct!”  …“But Leighann, I can’t do what...

How Whole Are You?

Explore, Reinvent

“How whole are you?” I leaned back on the motorbike, as my sixteen year old Balinese driver pressed on with increasing speed through the winding jungle roads of Nusa Penida.  When I didn’t answer, he repeated his question— “How whole are you?” “I need a moment to sit with that, Echo.”  Surely, I thought, this must be a Balinese get-to-know-you question. In my own culture, it’s unusual to explore the depths of one’s wholeness at first acquaintance.  But, however nonchalantly he asked, it had an impact. How whole am I? After a few moments of contemplation and gripping the back of his bike for dear life, I said, “I am...

Bali: A Lesson in Presence

Bali: A Lesson in Presence

I thought I was coming to Bali to work. It turns out, this couldn’t be more far from the truth. Here in Bali, life is different. “Ati ati” is a phrase I learned from one of my Balinese drivers. It means “slow ride” {according to his translation}. When he taught me this phrase, we were on our way to Canggu and he was referring to road speed, but I took it to mean something deeper. “Ati ati,” I repeated to myself, looking out over the vivid green of the rice fields rushing past. Slow ride. Slow ride indeed. Here in Bali, there is nowhere to get to—there is only THIS...

Create A New Reality With This New Year’s Ritual

Create, Reinvent

So I have this ritual. Every New Year’s Eve and Day, I create an experience that will support me to embody the feelings and energy equivalent to what I want to experience in the year ahead.  It struck me that this year is special. Not only will 2020 bring a new year, but also: A NEW DECADE! Which means, we can harness the power and possibility for the NEW DECADE by creating an equal experience in 2020. This is big, friends! How will I play? Here are some of the ways: I will spend New Year’s Eve on a plane, flying to California. I will spend New Year’s Day at the Rose...

Do This One Thing And Your Life WILL Change

When I was in fifth grade, I decided to play the flute. The first “composures” I learned were not composures at all. Rather, they were half notes and whole notes, sometimes strung together to form a tune.  Next, it was the scales. Oh god—the scales.  As I grew into middle school and private lessons, it was all about the scales. Up and down, my fingers flew. Memorizing this one and that one and this one again.  In sixth grade, I advanced to second chair and soon after that, I passed an audition to play in the Worcester Youth Orchestra, practicing Tchaikovsky and Bach for the stage at Christmas.  In seventh...

What Are You Committed To?

Kayla MacArthur

Here’s what I’m committed to right now: Waking up by 7:30am.Meditating.Journaling on possibility. Starting work by 9:30am.Writing.Sharing my writing.Inviting all kinds of people to connect.Inviting people who inspire me into coaching conversations.Inviting people I vibe with to work with me.Astonishing my Clients. Doing my own inner work. Going to the gym. Tracking money.Paying for things in cash. Reading.Going to bed by 11pm. Notice: Everything on this list—it’s inside of my control. Too often, we attach our sense of accomplishment to results we have no control over. Then, when the results do not occur, we feel we failed and hopelessness replaces happiness, worthlessness shatters confidence, and fun fades to frustration. We...

The Best Two Investments to Fill Your Coaching Practice

Create

Last month, I accomplished something BIG. And I didn’t share it. I intended to. Especially when it happened; when I was bursting at the seams with excitement. But then, like it tends to, the thrill of accomplishment faded and I had nothing left to fuel my words. I was also scared to share a win that might make you feel uncomfortable. But now, I want to share it {PROUDLY} because if I can do it, so can you. Last month, I officially filled my coaching practice! I booked an additional $22K in services in three weeks {a record for me} and I’ve had to start a waiting list! I’ve been...

The Trap of Either/Or

Create

Is it just me or does having to choose between one thing you really want {or the other} SUCK?! …Why can’t you have BOTH? Why can’t you travel AND invest with a high-level Coach? Why can’t you crush it at work AND have a thriving relationship? Why can’t you make money AND be happy?  The concept of BOTH is fairly radical for most people. “WAIT: You mean, I can have my cake and eat it too?” YES! The ceiling for possibility is endless when you’re willing to use your imagination and get creative. What stops us humans from seeing the possibility for BOTH is fear and judgment. It’s born from...

Do You Believe in Magic?

Create

When I was a little girl, I believed in magic. I believed in it so much, I thought I was a witch. I made potions from berries that grew wild in the woods. I cast love spells out of poems and flowers. I even made myself a silver wand and told my friends at school that they were witches too. As I grew up and my fairy tale faded, I stopped believing I was a witch, but I never stopped believing in magic. In fact, magic has only become MORE REAL over time.  In 2011, I was shocked to learn that a week before graduating, I was the Valedictorian of...

The Gift of Possibility

Create
Kayla MacArthur

When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream? Like, really dream—not, this-is-what-I-can-see-as-happening dreaming. I’m talking about the kind of dreaming that’s free from any form of resistance. The kind of dreaming that goes beyond what the mind can predict. The kind of dreaming that brings you face to face with a vision you didn’t know existed. When was the last time you played a game with possibility? A game where you call out your deepest desires; where the only rules are: What would you create with your life if you knew you could not fail and you had no fear? When I play this game with my people...
